I don’t know about you personally, but many women are still living under a cursed existence in most parts of our world. I think it’s time we start looking at ourselves with rightful pride in who we are from God’s point of view. Here’s a poem one reader sent in that reminds me of women’s spiritual uniqueness. Yes, to all my sisters, here’s my love to you!

Unchained, Claimed, and Renamed
“Woman, since the bite of the apple, you have carried the stigma of the fall. Somehow you have been blamed for being the cause of it all. Your wounded places and empty spaces, history says is your curse. You first bit the apple, with that choice you messed up the universe! Yes, we women all come from wounded places and scarred pasts but Jesus wants to meet us in those spaces with a healing that lasts. God wants you to have a much bigger life than you are living now but you’ve been hurt, and you don’t know how. You want to trust your heart but it’s been torn apart before and you wonder how you can trust anyone anymore. Why even bother, you’d be going out on a pretty slim limb, but God is not telling you to trust others, He’s saying, “trust Him”.
He has not given you a spirit of fear….
for His word makes it clear that he holds women dear.
A woman ill for years, unable now to hold back her tears, faced her fears.
She braved the crowds,
venturing forth in so much pain, her body bowed
just to reach for the hem of Jesus’ skirt –
in faith, believing He’d heal her hurt.
He introduced himself to her as father, unchained her, claimed her,
and renamed her Daughter.
Immediately all that ailed her was gone
and she knew she was loved from that moment on.
He forgave a woman caught in adultery, and sent her accusers away.
He does the same with yours, no matter what they say.
Nothing will separate you from his love and acceptance.
Your repentance assures your entrance to…His presence.
Women ministered to Jesus’ needs as He walked on the earth.
They loved him, provided for him, and Jesus knew their worth
in an age when women were scorned, devalued, and life for them was grim.
It was not Women who sold him, and thrice denied they knew him.
It was not Women who forsook Christ at the cross.
They stayed, lamented, grieved the loss
and in the morning they were first to arrive at the tomb
while the men cowered in fear in the upper room.
So Jesus gave a woman the commission to first preach the resurrection.
There is wonderful significance in this selection….
It shows that Jesus’ love freed women from all stigma of the fall.
Women, trust this: Jesus truly is your all in all.
So don’t let your history be your destiny
Jesus is the answer to your new identity.
If you get hurt – He will heal your hurt, just hold on tightly to the hem of His skirt.
His love for you will never fail but always will hold true.
He will unchain you, claim you, and make a new you.
He introduces Himself to you as Father.
No longer called woman, He renames you Daughter,
and as daughter, His perfect love expressed,
eternally freed, unconditionally loved, eternally blessed.
And for you men; a word to open your eyes and hopefully help you realize,
though women do try at times to guide you
they don’t want to walk over you, they want to walk beside you.”

I truly enjoyed your post. There are so many women in the Bible that God used. I think of Esther, Ruth, Mary and so many others. God gave credit to the women in the lives of many by naming who their mother and grandmother was. I really haven’t considered “my worth” as a women of God. I know that He loves me and that He leads me. I guess I consider “His Worth” to me. I save the word “Awesome” for God. We have an AWESOME God! 🙂 Thank you for the post. My new thing for today is to try reblogging. It will be the first time I reblogged another’s post….now if I can do it! 🙂

So many women in our world need to recognize their worth from God’s point of view like you mention. Our gender has much wisdom to offer, and we (usually) offer it in gentleness too! Thanks for your thoughts Janie Baer.
