The first newspaper clipping in your hometown is a milestone. Here I am in the autumn sunshine outside The Daily Courier building in Kelowna, BC, Canada! But what kind of a headline is that in such a big picture?

Most authors run a gauntlet in trying to get an agent or publisher to take them on. It can take months, even years of sending queries and manuscripts to the desktops of literary agencies. In my case, the odds were stacked!

How do I “sell” a book that quotes scripture to a secular agent or publishing house? How do I convince a Christian publisher that our God from heaven can actually be a God from outer space? He certainly can’t be from this chaotic world we live in!

So after months of effort I chose to become one of those exciting new kids in the literary field: An indie author! Self-publishing is gaining more respect as authors strive toward a professionally edited and designed product. Indie authors are those who are truly independent, own their own publishing ISBN numbers, and just pay the distributors to ship their books to buyers. It’s a heady feeling to have control over your content, title, cover design, and copyright. It’s in trepidation that I struggle up the steep learning curve of social media and digital marketing.

But for this book, The Celestial Proposal: Our Invitation to Join the God Kind, the controversial mixture of traditional Christian beliefs and the idea of outer-space spiritual entities, adapts perfectly for self-publishing.

Manifesting spiritual things into our physical realm is what I write about in Chapters 11, 12, and 13 anyway. So  creating a book from the thoughts in my head is just the extension of that idea – from the spiritual into the physical. I’m so convinced that these celestial principles work and excited to see where the book goes from here.

“I can’t wait to see what God is going to do with it next!”
