What will make us happy? What will satisfy us?
Most of us have enough to live on in the western world, while in other countries, people continue to struggle to find shelter and food. Here, we live in fine homes and have good jobs, and by comparison are extremely wealthy. Yet that still doesn’t guarantee our happiness.…
Viktor Emil Frankl, in MAN’S SEARCH FOR MEANING, stated it precisely,
“People have enough to live by… but nothing to live for;
they have the means but no meaning.”
We need to find meaning and a purpose for our lives! When we have something to live for, we can be happy anywhere. Because happiness is a by-product of the way we live.
Good news! There are celestial principles that we can learn to ensure our happiness, and give us meaning in life. What are these principles? They’re things like honesty, integrity, charity, justice, and loving your neighbor as yourself. If we develop these qualities, happiness will be the result. Because our purpose in life is the develop spiritual maturity!
“For example, when our children break the rules we’ve set for appropriate behavior within our families, we correct them and teach them a better way to behave in order to ensure their future happiness. They may break the rules quite frequently until they learn, but we love them anyway! In the same way, from a celestial viewpoint, moral precepts have been given to us, not in harsh authority, but so we can learn to be happy.” *
Life is a real multi-level reality game to play. It has different levels to master to ace the game. The more skills we develop in playing the game of life, the higher levels of spiritual maturity we attain, until we’re able to make our lives in a personal world of paradise!
