HOW TO MAKE THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT LAST

santa_kneeling_lg-256x300

Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas! We are going to say that to a whole bunch of people in the next few weeks. Our hearts are going to be lighter, filled with light. But afterward? How can we carry the merry beyond Christmas Day?

Sure, we’ll have a merry time with our friends and families. We’ll unwrap presents, and eat too much turkey. We’ll take time off from work, and focus on our loved ones. It will be great fun! But then the holidays end, and the merry days are over. How can we carry that warm lovable spirit into the new year?

Christmas is a happy time because we’re celebrating the birth of Jesus who brought us a message of hope and power.

  • We can give hope and empower others in our lives too. What’s so hard about that! God is love. If we love that loving feeling at this time of year, then let’s continue to create it with others all year.

Christmas is all about giving and doing for others – more than meeting our own needs. We buy presents, bake cookies, make pies, cook turkeys, and all that effort is for others to enjoy. What’s the by-product of all the energy we give out? The feelings of love, inner peace and joy. This is the true Spirit of Christmas!

  • When the holidays are over, let’s carry on with these good feelings! Loving God and the goodness in life, and loving our neighbor as ourselves. Being joyously mindful in all that we do. Taking action to be the person we want to be. Then in the new year, we will really live a wonderful life.

I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

From my heart to yours, Jane Catherine

When one of my sons reached his teen years, he asked me, “Why do we have to follow God’s rules anyway?” We sat down as a family to discuss this most important question, and I told him we don’t have to follow any rules. But if we want to find real happiness and power in our lives, the instructions are there in a written moral code. In other words, the more diligently we follow God’s instructions for living, the more we enjoy a life filled with love and metaphysical empowerment.
