Do you ever feel like you don’t really know how to love? After all my decades of living and learning, I still don’t know how to love the right way. I blow it often. I think my communication and writing skills pretty good and my knowledge of spiritual matters are unique. I’ve even written a book on faith as a power to activate. And I sacrifice for others and give to charities.
But does that please God? Am l more lovable? Here’s what God brought into my mind this morning:
“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 NIV Bible
So yes, I am humbled… because I’m still learning ‘how to love’. Thankfully, God gives us a lifetime for that very purpose because it’s the most important godly trait there is. God is LOVE.
How do I learn the lessens for loving others and myself too? I practice (and practice) the sacred instructions in my manual for living life!
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:3-7 NIV
