WHAT IS GOD WAITING FOR? The world is a mess. There is so much hatred over national politics, or the colour of skin, or the type of religion. When is it enough?Why doesn’tGod come down and save us from the misery that billions of people are experiencing?
This question was hurled at me years ago during my XZone Radio interview with Rob McConnell for my book THE CELESTIAL PROPOSAL. Here’s the answer I presented then:
God has a problem with us. He loves us like a parent and he gave us the highest godly attribute of FREE WILL. But he hates how we act. We are the problem with our insidious greed for power. Our arrogance surges up through the cracks of the geopolitical divisions of our planet. Violence erupts at the pressure points. God is waiting for us to download a new operating system and play the Game of Life by his rules on our planet.
So yes, we’ve asked God for help, but thenwe don’t listen to him.
He’s offered to save humanity from misery for a long, long time. God has proposed an alliance with us and his government in a celestial kingdom (in the heavens) which would create peace and harmony for all humanity. He sent prophets and great messengers to all the different religions. He sent his son Jesus Christ to give us standards and laws that would establish the kingdom, the government of God on earth. Laws to love your neighbour, laws for honesty, for integrity, to respect nature and honour God.
He gave us these laws to live by so we could all co-exist and be happy. God loves us! God is big enough for all of us.
“But nobody’s going to tell us what to do,” we say with belligerence. Like spiritual toddlers, we reject God’s instructions. “No, I want to do it my way,” we say. Like inexperienced teenagers, we think we have all the answers. We are acting like spoiled children. We are spiritually immature!
Our leaders and presidents act like middle school bullies on the playground of our planet. We must elect leaders with maturity and morality who actually care about us and serve their constituents.
"Jesus called them together and said, 'You know that those who are regarded as rulers... lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.... Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.'” Mark 10:42-44
We’ve been choosing for ourselves what’s right and wrong. Or worse, we’ve decided there is no right and wrong. Well, that obviously isn’t working….
For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” Mark 7:21-23
We don’t have to fight each other! Nations don’t have to rise up against each other, like kids wrestling over toys. We need to learn to share.
After all, God designed us all ‘in his likeness.’ To be gods on Earth– his ‘children’ on our planet. And that’s what we can be…IFwe will just hurry up and GROW SOME SPIRITUAL MATURITY!
Anyway, those are my thoughts on the subject. If we can ever grid the planet with God’s laws, we’ll establish the Kingdom of God and make Earth a paradise for everyone!
