Hey, it’s Springtime! And we get to observe all kinds of living things being created right out of the once frozen ground…

“If you have ever watched the birth of a child, you have seen the force of life glowing and centering upon a uniquely created human being. The birth of an animal happens the same way. First, comes the body; it takes a breath, and then a visible source of life suddenly enters it. Another living creature is born in the timeless miracle of life itself. Even in the plant kingdom, seeds swell and burst open, and new green shoots reach up out of the earth.

What vast, colorful beauty and complexity it all has! In never-ending, continuous patterns, nature is on full throttle from the passing of winter to the rebirth of spring. Who tells the Canadian goose to fly south in migration? Who instructs the bear to go into hibernation? Who guides the salmon up the same river to spawn? In all these things, order, rhythm, and purpose testify to the incredibly astute and detailed presence of an intelligent creator. Certainly, biological diversity is evolving on our planet, but the simple evolutionary theory of our “climb from slime” does not ring true in the face of such orderly function. It seems very unlikely that random selection can adequately explain the operational blueprint we have in our universe either.

Even if we tried or were able to provide alternatives, the laws that govern and hold together the universe are truly superior to anything we can set into motion. At best, our efforts have only led to the further pollution and deterioration of our planet and its population. If we, in all our intelligence, cannot even preserve our world’s balanced state of nature, it seems inconceivable that such an amazing phenomenon could have happened by random selection. Yet, the natural beauty and order of planet earth remain consistent around us.

In my beautiful homeland of Canada, I have been most privileged to see a river run so thick with salmon I could have walked across the blue-green and red, underwater carpet of churning movement. I have heard wolf packs serenading each other in scales of wild harmony, echoing from one end of a meadow to the other. I have trampled wildflowers glistening in the morning dew. When each of us has a chance to connect with nature and let its loveliness, colors, patterns, life force, rhythms, and reason enlighten our minds, we witness the work of a very passionate designer. The question is, how do we fit into this earthly garden of design—and why are we in the garden?

All great products usually come with instruction manuals, and this amazing planet is no exception. A tantalizing essay at the very beginning of Genesis begins the explanation of our purpose on earth:

Fotosearch_k10149770God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. …So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:25,27 KJV Bible”

So what do I believe from my observations?

  • The order and patterns of nature witness the blueprints to our world.

  • God’s image and likeness replicate in the human species!

  • And our purpose in this universe is to become intelligent god-beings from Earth!
