It sounds like you’re asking me what I think, so here goes: Your reasoning and the questions you asked were exactly why I wrote the book! The mechanics of utilizing power from believing in God/Jesus Christ was beyond me too. “Yah, OK, he died for me. He’s supposed to save me but what is he saving me from? Maybe he lives in me, whatever that means, but how does that change anything?”

When we translate one key word in “Christianese” into plain old English it clarifies things! We talk about Jesus Christ, but we have to realize that the word Christ is NOT his last name. It’s more like his nickname! According to any bible concordance and dictionary, Christ means “the anointed or the anointing”. The word, anoint means to daub with oil or smear on a powerful substance. Jesus is called The Christ because he was anointed with power from a celestial realm. All his friends saw that he had something different about him. So much so, that they also called him the Son of God.

The word christen is used today when we christen a person with a new name of notable character, or when we break a bottle of champagne over the bow of a ship to christen its maiden voyage.

So, when you start to read the timeless verses in the New Testament, try substituting the word Christ with the one anointed with power or the powerful anointing when you come across the word Christ. It’s pretty neat. IF CHRIST IS IN YOU then an anointing from a celestial realm is in you. If Christ lives in us, we are sent out with metaphysical power! Whew!
