Are blood red moons prophetic signs of horrific things to come? Does astronomy really mix with prophecy somehow? It’s true, a red moon on the rising has happened many times before. Yes, but four red moons in a row, all rising over the sky on the exact days of major Jewish holy days?  Significant? Hmmmm….

In just a few hours after I post this, in the early morning of April 4th, 2015, at 4:16 PST, the third  blood moon in this tetrad will be glowing in the sky, painted appropriately red for our violent world. What causes the moon to be drenched in scarlet like this?  It’s because during an eclipse of the sun, the red light still curves around the rim of the planet and then bounces off the moon!

Last year the first two blood moons occurred on the exact dates of the Jewish holy days of Passover and Sukkot (or Succoth, also known as The Feast of Tabernacles – “Feast of Tents”). Succoth is the most important Jewish fall festival commemorating the sheltering of the Israelites in the wilderness. In fact both of these sacred days are celebrated in honour of God’s protection and salvation! 

Good Friday starts our Easter weekend. Christians view Good Friday as the fulfillment of the Jewish Passover – it’s believed to be the very day Jesus Christ died on the cross. We too celebrate God’s protection and salvation. So again this year like last year, the blood moon shines red for the Passover and again on September 28th, for the beginning of the Feast of Tabernacles. The chances of these four events coinciding are phenomenal. What significant meaning is being communicated to us from an omnipotent Intelligence?

John Hagee (author of the book Four Blood Moons) and other Christian thought-leaders believe this is strong evidence for major changes to soon occur in the course of humanity’s existence. Yet other past tetrads of blood moons have also coincided with political events in Israel’s history. Eight of these tetrads have matched up with these same commemorative holy days! OK, this got me stirred up to do more research. A blood moon does emerge on the pages in Joel verse 2:31 of the Bible. But much more detail is given in the end chapter of the Bible for what seems to be the last blood moon during the sixth seal of devastation. Will these be the events that take place to end the world as we know it?

Straight from the big black book: 
"I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains." Revelation 6:12-17 NIV

So where are we on this prophetic human timeline? Well, we’ve always had earthquakes and some major ones at that. But this great earthquake will be astronomical, “such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great”. (Revelation 16:17-19) We’ve always had eclipses of the sun and red moons occurring too. But never…stars falling to earth? Or have we?

Certainly meteorites have sunk huge pits into the surface of Mother Earth’s face, but like figs falling from a tree? No! At the same time, the sky’s being rolled up and islands and mountains are exchanging places? The only possible way THAT could happen is IF the earth is jolted out of its spin, it’s axis realigned, and it’s poles are relocated. Water, land, everything would shift in cataclysmic chaos. Possible? Only if some celestial object were flung across space like a gigantic marble colliding into our playground of a solar system! Wouldn’t that make the stars seem to roll off the dark screen of our skies as the spin-of-the-globe came to a screeching halt?

A catastrophic series of colliding planets and their gravitational pull. Perhaps there is more to the approaching Nibiru silent-planet theory that we should be considering! What would God look like if He visited our planet anyway?
