A friend of mine was plagued by anxiety and defeat. She would wake up in the middle of the night and hear dark voices forecasting a disastrous destiny for her. Maybe these demons were figurative, but maybe not. They convinced my friend that…life would never be better and they tied her down in a deep depression. Yet she believed in a loving and powerful God. She was a child of God. So one night she had enough, and she spoke out forcefully.
“Have you forgotten who I am? You don’t have the authority to play these games in my head. No more. I won’t listen to you.”
With those strong heartfelt words, something broke. From that moment she began to act with authority over the circumstances in her life. And although confronting her problems was still hard, things began to change for her.
Now I’m afraid that what I’m going to say will almost sound like blasphemy to some Christians, but here goes:
Believing in God doesn’t automatically make things better in our life. Our faith in the reality of God is not powerful. Our faith needs to be activated!
You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? James 2.19-20
We have to believe there is a God who is trying to empower us. If you’re a Christian then you’re a child of God. Well then, act like one!
Your God-father backs you up and you’re part of the family. He wants to see you mature and become just like him. Thus in the natural world, the Father gives power and authority to the child to help run the family business!
Even outside of Christianity, many new age writers are urging us to manifest our realities. They’ve discovered the truth. I’m just explaining why the formula for commanding reality with authority actually works.
“If there is one key that would make all the difference between victory and defeat in a person’s life, it would be taking spiritual authority. You can build up faith, trust in God and be at rest, but as long as you do not do the one thing, you may not turn your trial around. That one thing is to take spiritual authority by actively enforcing faith through the act of commanding reality. The act of commanding is to exercise divine power. It is the…point of execution where all power is released.”¹
Enoch Tan
Having faith is not belonging to a church denomination.
We must choose to use faith as a force. Faith has to be activated!
I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live… Deuteronomy 30:19
