When I married my first husband he’d already barred the RCMP and the Catholic priest at his cabin door with a rifle. No way was he going to let them put his three-year-old half Native son in the school residence on the reserve, even if he was single and struggling to find child care as a timber faller.
I became a mother to that young boy later. I worked as a cashier at the trading post, became the secretary at the elementary school, and learned to love the backwoods life and the community.
Abuse in native residential schools is NOT ancient history.
It still happens in Canadian schools and foster homes. Prejudice against Canada’s native population is sickening. And even though my stepson has become a successful and respected business man, he had to work twice as hard and have higher integrity than any white person to get there. I am very proud of who he is!

Can’t we up north stop judging people by their racial features, and the colour of their skin? Pure, half, quarter, eighth, this race or that. Who cares anymore? We’re in the 21st Century and this is Canada! We’re all a mixture when you go back far enough in each family’s genealogy. And think about this:
God has NO colour-of-skin, no physical attributes!
My God is big enough to love us all, despite it all.
That’s how BIG we need to be.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1st John 4:8 NIV
Virtual hugs to all of you! Our God is big enough.

“We’re all a mixture when you go back far enough in each family’s genealogy.” We all harken back via our genes/mitochondria to a single black female per the latest in archeo-geneology. (https://www.africanews.com/2020/12/01/lupita-nyong-o-s-dna-confirms-humankind-was-born-of-an-african-woman//)

That is a very interesting scientific paper. BUT…she became pregnant by someone! Do you visualize a supernatural intervention? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on that!

I find all your comments bitter-sweet. Heart rendering. We, us humans, have along way to go.
I hope we will get there. I Hope.

I thank God and my parents that I grew up seeing people, not race. My prayer is for healing and know the God of LOVE and forgiveness is the ONLY answer to this.
