“You think God’s an alien? You are weird!” That’s what they say to me when I share my belief in a Higher Power residing in outer space. But I think it’s funny that some of these same people believe in a God from heaven! I mean, what heaven are they talking about besides the space outside of our planet?
So far, space exploration has mapped over 3,000 exoplanets, and seven of them are orbiting a nearby star. These planets are warm enough that water and life as we know it would be conceivable (Astronomy/The Guardian). And oddly enough they are in the constellation of Aquarius. The new Astrological age has arrived!
Then there’s a whole new division in Science called exotheology. It’s a term that describes theological implications with the discovery of Extraterrestrial Intelligence. Because NASA says it’s just a matter of time before we discover the existence of intelligent life somewhere out there in the multitude of solar systems. Want to explore the possibilities? Check out Exoplanets.Nasa.Gov where you can practically walk the surfaces of these worlds yourself.
Yet all this doesn’t change my spiritual Christian beliefs in the least! And it need not change yours. Because you don’t have to read the bible in King James English anymore. I read it for space age contemporary meaning which makes it even more realistic and exciting!
If God and company (angels, elders, etc.) created intelligent beings on our planet, why wouldn’t they want to mentor their prodigy with celestial rules for acceptable behaviour. We’ve called it religion for thousands of years, but scripture says Jesus Christ came to write these celestial, moral laws in our hearts. Perhaps that’s why today some of us label it spirituality or enlightenment.
Even NASA is trying to reconcile the discovery of extraterrestrial life to humanity’s religious norms calling it the “the societal implications of astrobiology.” In 2014, NASA gave $1.1 million to the Center of Theological Inquiry, an organization rooted in Christian theology.
Did you know the Catholic Church is already preparing their worldwide followers for the very possibility of advanced intelligent life? Father Jose Funes is the current director of the Vatican Observatory (yes it’s had one for decades). “This Jesuit astronomer suggests the possibility of ‘brother extraterrestrials‘ poses no problem for Catholic theology.”
Extraterrestrial means outside of earth or its atmosphere. So I ask you, where else could God be from, but offside of earth in the heavens?
"The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind." Psalm 115:16NIV Bible
We are making a mess of our world both politically and environmentally. Will a time soon come when we have to ask a God from the heavens to SAVE US?
