Do you ever doubt whether any government can make our world clean and safe again? Today I’m taking a look at THEOCRACY: ‘A government based on the laws of God.’
As one of you pointed out in my last post (Looking Back on Covid 19), modern theocracies can be dangerous, and I agree. When a theocracy is based on only one elite religious dogma and the power is abused by religious officials, then it is no better than other types of governments; prone to corruption.
But what if we could make all political systems accountable to the two main laws of God? You know, the two simple common sense rules. Jesus simplified all moral standards into these two laws.
1. “Love the Lord, your God.” Matthew 22:37-40
(Which means: love goodness, kindness, truth, justice, peace, integrity, purity, nature’s loveliness, and love itself – because God is love)
AND
2. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Mark 12:30-31
(Which means: treat people of other gender, race, nationality, religious philosophies and status, as you’d like to be treated yourself – because the earth is small and we are one humanity)
Applying these two all-encompassing rules can establish a pure theocracy, actually forming the Government of God!
I’m patriotic to that kind of government. And if you’ve ever prayed the Lord’s Prayer, you’ve asked for a theocratic government to come down to earth too!
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.Luke 11:2-4
How do we make this happen? We pay taxes to our governments so let’s hold them accountable to these standards. We have to hold ourselves accountable.
And here’s the long-range plan, says God:
When these laws become “written in our hearts,” all people will be aligned with the government of God. This is the pure theocracy worth campaigning for!
And I see signs of this happening, even now in the global response to the Coronavirus. By social distancing we are putting people’s lives in higher priority than national economics! That is a Godly thing to do…
God designed the laws for the government of Paradise on our planet!
What we have to do is download and install it; the moral standards we can all support.

‘A government based on the laws of God.’ whose God?

Humanity’s God!
The One who set it all in motion, and waits (oh so patiently) for us to get our act together (ie: become enlightened, born again, spiritually developed!) The world’s great religions can’t find fault with God’s two basic laws; though they have trouble following them sometimes. Let’s hold our religions accountable too!
